The European Parliament approved a new science‑and‑tech deal that lets Jordan join the Mediterranean research partnership PRIMA, and asked EU leaders and Jordan’s government to move forward with it.
Summary
On 17 December 2025 in Strasbourg, the European Parliament approved the EU‑Jordan agreement on science and technology cooperation (letters 14284/2024 and 14289/2024, and draft Council decision 2024/0178(NLE)). The agreement explains how Jordan will join the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA). The Parliament gave its consent and instructed its President to forward its decision to the Council, the Commission, and to the governments and parliaments of EU member states and Jordan. The recommendation came from the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (A10‑0228/2025).
