François‑Louis Michaud Takes the Helm of the European Banking Authority

The European Parliament approved the appointment of François‑Louis Michaud as the new Chairperson of the European Banking Authority (EBA). The decision, made on 10 March 2026, follows the resignation of the previous chair on 31 January 2026. Michaud will serve a five‑year term. The appointment was chosen through an open, merit‑based process that respects gender balance and requires the candidate to have strong knowledge of financial institutions, markets, and supervision. The Parliament’s decision will be sent to the Council, the Commission, the EBA, and the governments of EU member states.
