Now EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also demands more: more than two trillion euros! The European Parliament decided this on Wednesday evening. The money is planned for the so-called multi‑year financial framework of the EU for the years 2028 to 2034. During the process, the sum even increased further. Commission President Ursula von der Leyen originally estimated two trillion euros. This is already almost four times the German federal budget. But apparently the EU Parliament is not satisfied with that. It therefore decided on an additional surcharge of another ten percent, i.e., 200 billion. The financial need is justified by rising expenditures for defense, digitalisation, and climate protection. 💡 For comparison: With the sum, all German car drivers could fill up for at least 25 years for free.
