The British retail sector reports the steepest decline in sales figures in over 40 years. The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) recorded in April a drop in the Retail Sales Volume Balance to -68 – the lowest figure since the survey began in 1983. 77 percent of retailers reported declining sales, only 9 percent reported growth.
