Magyar won. If Putin falsified the elections in Hungary, that’s pretty bad. Even though – I wouldn’t be surprised if, within a few weeks, our supporters of a million moments and shields against democracy began to claim that Magyar is actually a secret tool of Russia. Certainly, there will not be a 180‑degree turn in Hungarian foreign policy. Not even 90. Instead there will be subtle corrections, and those who expect the election winner to have Zelensky’s neck will probably be disappointed… In any case, these elections also show that President Beneš’s decrees are not a relic, and even eight decades after their issuance they remain the subject of debate and election campaigns. And of course, attempts to break them. After all, in Czechoslovakia alone there are 3 million hectares of land under those decrees (about 600 thousand hectares of Hungary, which Magyar was opening). And it’s not just about land. Such property is then a huge motivation… The ANO‑SPD‑Motorists‑Tricolors‑PRO government should immediately, from the outset, clearly refuse to even open a discussion about presidential decrees. Given how it has so far approached the holding of the Sudeten German landschaft (whose chairman Posselt declares the decrees belong in the garbage dump of history and has called for their removal) in Brno, I am quite concerned…
