The trade deficit of Austria is as large as it hasn't been in 13 years. The high energy and wage costs in the country are to blame, followed by an overwhelming bureaucracy and, not least, a deficient infrastructure. The course set by former Green minister Leonore Gewessler during the black‑green government seems to be continued by the current SPÖ minister Peter Hanke, who is now responsible for infrastructure.
